Capacity Building Supports (Increased Social & Community Participation)
Core Supports (Community, Social and Recreational Activities)
(Participants should consult their plan manager or coordinator to confirm funding categories
Program Structure
The program may run in one of the following formats:
Weekly Classes

1–2 hour sessions

Small groups to ensure safety and tailored support

Mixture of foundational acting exercises, improvisation, character work, movement and voice exercises
Workshops / Intensives

Half‑day or full‑day workshops
-
Thematic focus: confidence building, scene work, creative voice, ensemble performance, etc.
Performance Stream (By Selection)

Participants demonstrating readiness through the audition process may join:

A performance ensemble
-
Short film or theatre projects
-
Community or public showcases (optional)
Participant Eligibility
The program is open to NDIS participants who:

Are aged 12+ (or specify your age range)
-
Have an active NDIS planRequire support in communication, social skills, creative expression, emotional regulation, or meaningful community participation
-
Are able to participate safely in a group environment
Audition Requirements
To ensure safety and suitability for all participants, an audition/assessment is required before acceptance into the program
.Purpose of the Audition
The audition is not about acting ability—it ensures:

The program is appropriate for the participant’s support needs

The participant can engage meaningfully with group activities
-
Accessibility requirements can be identified
-
The participant is placed in the most suitable class level
What Happens in the Audition
The audition includes:

A short meet‑and‑greet conversation
-
A simple acting exercise (e.g. repeating a line, reading a short scenario, or improvisation)
-
Observation of communication styles, comfort level, and behavioural support needs
-
Optional support worker involvement
Outcome
Following the audition, the participant will receive:

Acceptance into the program, or
-
Recommendation for alternative support pathways, or
-
Referral to a different class level, if available
Support Worker Involvement
Participants may attend with:

A support worker
-
A family member
-
A carerSupport staff may assist with:

Communication
-
Behavioural support
-
Emotional regulation
-
Personal care needs
-
However, support workers should not take part in the acting exercises unless required for the participant’s safety or comfort.
